MY BLACK MUSLIM WOMANHOOD ON FIRE

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

This body is my home

I hoard the weight of the generations before me

Some might call it transgenerational baggage

Airports might call me a walking terrorist

This body be

Black

Woman

Muslim

Under attack

On fire

All in the same

No firemen to come to my rescue

To put me out

I've been set aflame

And left as collateral damage

Americans know nothing of war

Look how Black women's bodies and ashes

go unseen

unheard of

Left to the wind to finalize

Man's deed

Resistance been in my being before birth

I broke through the walls of my mothers womb

So watch how my body

Will bounce off any wall built in my way

Holding gasoline

I dare a muthafucka...

I wish a muthafucka would

come near me

again
